She was predeceased by: her father Dean Sims; her stepfather James Everitt; and her pet Bella. She is survived by: her mother Dortha Everitt; her brother Steven Sims; her sister-in-law Colleen Sims; her daughter Brittany Makitalo; her son-in-law Aaron Makitalo; and her grandchildren, Natalie Makitalo and Caleb Makitalo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
