He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Placke and Bertha "Bertie" Placke; his former wife Sue Placke; and his brother Fred. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Placke Gault (Charles) of Seabrook, Martin Placke (Jennifer) of Giddings and Abigail Placke of Weatherford; his granddaughters, Anna Placke Holland (Anthony) of Georgetown and Laura Kate Placke (Jordan Dedear) of Georgetown; his brother William Placke (Dottie) of Katy; his siblings-in-law, Ruth Placke of Giddings and J. B. Pace of Georgetown; his nieces and nephews, Linda Placke, Gretchen Placke, George Placke and Derek Placke; and his close friend Charles Pohorelsky.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School, Giddings Food Pantry, or the charity of one's choice.
