He was predeceased by : his former life partner Helen Ione Waddell; his wife Dovie Mae Green of Arlington; and his daughter Lesa Brecht (Waxahachie). He is survived by : his daughter Theresa; his son-in-law Matthew Kushner of Dallas; his stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Ruthart and Martha; his son-in-law Charles Carter of Crowley; and his grandchildren, David Kushner (Dallas), Charles Ruthart (Arlington), Gia Binkowski (Pflugerville), Tanya Pemberton (Cypress), Charis Hendrick (Corsicana), Lauren Meyer of Katy, TX and Syndi Byrne (Eustace). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home (2951 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75052). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).
