He was predeceased by: his parents, William Howard Buchanan and Naomi Elizabeth Ross Buchanan; his children, Mark Buchanan (Beth) and Shelley Huddleston; his granddaughter Sybil Griffin; and his siblings, Jerome Buchanan, William "Bill" Buchanan, Mildred Lewers, Johnnie Nichols and Lottie Shrum.
He is survived by: his wife Jimmie Lou McCain Buchanan of Grand Saline; his sons, Byron Buchanan (Michael Eiden) of Houston and Richard McCallum (Holly) of Point; his grandchildren, John Buchanan (Sharon), Joseph Buchanan, Danielle Huddleston, Raven McCallum and Sarah St. John; his great grandchildren, Robert Adams and Genevieve Adams; and his son-in-law Danny Mac Huddleston. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
