It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hazel Tijerina of Gregory, Texas, who passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 44, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Santiago Tijerina and Silvia Tijerina (Montes); her children, Aaron Castillo and Markos Mendez; and her grandson Kaleb Castillo.
She is survived by: her husband John Mendez of Gregory, Texas; her children, John "Mikey" Mendez of San Marcos, Joel Mendez of Lubbock, Texas, Daisy Castillo (Nathan) of Gregory, Texas and Penelope "Penny" Mendez of Gregory, Texas; her granddaughter Karianna Guerrero of Gregory, Texas; and her siblings, Amando Montes of Taft, Texas, Teresa Garcia (Florencio Gonzalez) of Portland and Cris Luera (Robert) of Taft. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
