He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Gil and Bernice Gil; and his sister-in-law Linda Gil. He is survived by: his wife Jewel Gil; his sons, Mike (Debbie Gil) of Groves and Russell (Amy Gil) of Groves; his grandchildren, Jacob Gil of Groves, Aubrey Gil of San Marcos and Annie Gil of Galveston; his brother Pete Gil of Port Arthur; his close friend Schatzy II; his parents-in-law, G. B., Jewel Graham of Raymond, R. C. and Ronald Graham; and his nephews, Brent and Rex Graham. He is also survived by cousins and nieces and nephews.
