He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Nell Pohl of Hallettsville. He is survived by: his father Ronald Ellis Layton; his wife Priscilla Harp Layton; his children, Logan (Sandra), Chance (Morgan), Ashley (Travis), Mallorie (Timothy) and Dallas (Katie); his mother-in-law Frances Lewis; his aunt Helen Appelt; his siblings, Rhonda Adams (Raymond), Timothy and Jeffrey; and his siblings-in-law, Cheri Ayoub (Rob) and Timothy Harp (Carrie). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (400 E 5th St, Hallettsville, TX 77964). A rosary was held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, August 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
