He was predeceased by: his parents, Governor Irland Brown and Mary Draden Brown; his son William Earl Brown; his grandchildren, Chrystal Brown and Charles Hunter II; his great great grandchild Elayah Brown; and his siblings, G. B., James, Maxine, Bessie, Emma J., Katherine, Joyce, Jean, Janie, Bertie and Mary.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ella Hunter (Charles, Sr.) of Lubbock and Belinda Wright of Abilene; his siblings, William Brown of Hamlin, Charles Brown (Lillie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joann Elix of Roosevelt and Minnie Williams Robinson of Hamlin, Texas; and his nephew Kenneth Williams. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
