He was predeceased by: his parents, Winter Clyde Childs and Margaret Elizabeth Wilson Childs; and his brother W. C. Childs, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Childs; his daughters, Margaret Hahn (Albert), Carol Midgley and Kim Clutter (Dorren); and his grandchildren, Mark Hahn, Abigail Hahn, Carl Midgley, Michael Midgley, Taylor Midgley, Mary Midgley, Scarlett Clutter, Clint Hahn, Mindy Davis and Jason Clutter. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Ted generously volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Health Center in Harlingen for approximately five years until volunteer activities were suspended due to health concerns during the pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Christian School or the Gideons.
