A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Willow Cemetery, Haskell, Texas, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. On this day we're sadden by the loss of an awesome mother, grandmother, aunt. But this day we gather here to say not only goodbye but to embrace Ruby on her journey that we all will take one day.

Ruby was an outgoing mother to her children there was nothing on earth she wouldn't have done to make sure they were healthy and in a safe place. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, attending school events, and going on vacation with her family. Even though her age was 71 that didn't stop her from going like a teenager, she was very outgoing and adventurous.

Ruby was born and raised in Haskell, TX to James Alfred Bartley and Chelsa Joysee Gobel.

Ruby had four sisters and two brothers which of whom she precedes in death, Bobby, James, and Gloria.

The survivors of Ruby's family are her sisters, Lisa and Kelly. Ruby's children, Lashana, Dawaine, Stefanie, and Josephine. Followed by her grandkids, Kierra, Andraes, and Davaun, and many more, followed by her niece and nephew Amanda and Shannon.

Stefanie wrote a sympathy message

“I won’t be there where flowers stand or where soft prayers fill the room, but know my love is not absent— it walks with her, it always has. I grieve in quiet, sacred ways, away from crowds, away from view. My heart says goodbye in its own time, and every breath remembers you, Mom. Your Daughter Stefanie”
