She was predeceased by: her parents, Mance Herrington and Gladys Craddock Herrington; her husband Lynn Tatom; and her siblings, Harvey Herrington, Marguerite Schwartz, Colleen Beckcom, Rosie Taylor and Joyce Dickerson.
She is survived by: her children, Wade Tatom (Julie) of Tenaha, Rhonda Gipson (Floyd) and Robyn Shapley (Andy); and her sisters, Faye Dickerson, Jo Ann Forse of Pineland and Jeanette Harvey of Center. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Starr Funeral Home (510 Starr St, Hemphill, TX 75948). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Plainview Cemetery (5176 Plainview Rd, Pineland, TX 75968).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Plainview Cemetery in Dorothy's memory, a gesture that would be greatly appreciated and honor her lifelong commitment to her community.
