It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Tena Joshlin Smart of Hemphill, Texas, born in Deweyville, Texas, who passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William "Bill" Newton Joshlin and Willie Mae Sheppard. She is survived by: her daughter Brenda Carole Richardson (Miguel A. Quinones Jr.); her grandchildren, Naomi Atena Quinones Vallejo, Katrina Ester Quinones and Miguel A. Quinones 3rd; her great grandchildren, Marissa Tenaee, Mikayla Brenaee and Michael Wade Langham, Jr.; her husband Dennis King Smart of Leesville; and her stepchildren, Sharon Denise Young, Tonia Annette Edwards, James R. N. Smart and Dennis K. N. Smart. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
