Walter Lee Rouse Sr Obituary
Walter Lee Rouse, Sr. was called home to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 23, 2013 in Hemphill, Texas with his loving wife by his side. Walter was born in Rayville, Louisiana on January 21, 1932 to E. Beltie and Ella Inez Rouse. His heavenly reception was undoubtedly filled with love and celebration as his family who passed before him greeted him with open arms.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers James Henry, Tommy, and Earl Rouse, his son-in-law Keith Brashear, and his beloved dog Willie. Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Patricia Ann Rouse, of Hemphill, Texas and his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Rouse, of Richwood, Texas. He is also survived by his doting children, Debra Brashear of San Antonio, Brenda and Rod Keith of Bryan, Texas, Walter, Jr. "Bubba" and Shelley Rouse of Angleton, Texas, LeiLani and John Reyna of Angleton, Texas, Rick and Donnah Rouse of Rosharon, Texas, Don and Sonnia Hughes of Houston, Patrick and Karen Hughes of Altoona, Pennsylvania, James and Tina Hughes of Richwood, Texas, Harry and Stacey Lauer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trina Marie Hughes-Soper of Sparks, Nevada, and 38 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, all of whom were the lights of his life!
Walter retired to Hemphill, Texas 20 years ago to enjoy a quiet life with is wife amongst the East Texas pines near the lake. He was a member of the Six Mile Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. He considered it the Lord's work to fix small engines and equipment to help his many friends of the community. Known to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as "PawPaw," he is famous for his fitting stories for every occasion, his amazing fried fish, his beaming smile that lit up the room, and his handsome "Hi, Baby" greeting that made everyone believe they were his favorite.
Though we won't have him here with us, our spirits are truly grateful that our Father saw fit to grant him his heavenly reward. He fought cancer and won, but again grew tired and sick; we take comfort in knowing that he never has to suffer. PawPaw's strength, determination, and love for his wild blended family are the legacy we all carry within us.
We're sure he's in a boat--somewhere beautiful, with a smile on his face and big fish on the line. Rest easy, PawPaw. We will gather together to celebrate Walter's life on December 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Six Mile Baptist Church in the Six Mile community. The service will be officiated by his son Pastor Bubba Rouse.
