He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Ray and Ruby Leighton Scates Evans; his grandson Scott Andrew Evans; and his sister Patsy Ray Smith. He is survived by: his uncle Joe (Coach Joe); his son Joe; his wife Mary Ann Evans; his sons, David Evans (Becky) and Andy Evans (Tammie); his grandchildren, Nicki Simpson (Roddy), Meagan Taylor (Jeff) and Jaxon Evans; his great grandchildren, Josie, Eli Simpson and Emily Taylor; his nephew Scott Smith (Anita); and his niece Kathy Hawkins (Gordon).
