It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Wayne Deckard of Hereford, Texas, who passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Deckard and Ruby Deckard; and his brothers, Danny, Terry and Alva Ray Deckard.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Mitchell of Farmington, NM.; his daughters, Tonya Long (Bubba) of Canyon, TX and Traci Thomas (Mike) of Valle de Oro, TX; his grandchildren, Bridgett, Heather Long of Amarillo, TX and Dakota Thomas (Maddie); his great grandchildren, Remi and Huxlee of Snyder, TX; his grandson Roper Thomas (Jaci) of Edmond, OK.; and his siblings, Betty Esparsen of Portales, NM, Charles Deckard (Barbara) of Blue Ridge, TX, Larry Deckard of Abernathy, TX and Debbie Martin (Tony) of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Methodist Church (501 Main St, Hereford, TX 79045).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Samaritan Hospice, Hereford, TX or Country View Living Skilled Nursing home in Dimmitt, TX.
