He was predeceased by : his parents, James Dodson and Gertie White; his former life partner Ann Marie Dodson; his wife Myrna Dodson; his son Stephen Dodson; his granddaughter Tiffany Dodson; and his great grandchild Jasmine Maxwell.

He is survived by : his children, Dale Dodson (Sue) of Pearland, TX, Lynda Garcia (Junior) of Longview, TX and Rhonda Hertel (David) of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
