He was predeceased by: his parents, George Epting and Beatrice Epting (Watts); his wife Sharon Cockerham; his siblings, Thelma Joyce Conger, Edward and Johnny Epting; and his nephews, Mike Epting and John Shannon Epting.

He is survived by: his sisters, Doris Fields and Geraldene Lewis Willmon (Dean) of Whitney; and his nieces and nephews, Wayne Clay, Eddie Conger, Donald Clay, Tommy Epting, George Lewis, Debbie Tobin-Dewey, DeeDe Meador, Cathy Garcia and Sheila LaMaster. He is also survived by many great nephews/nieces and great-great nephews/nieces.
