He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter John Oakes and Shirley Ann Giles; his sons, Jharet and Julian Oakes; his wife Blanca Rubio (Dunkin'Donuts); and his pets, Bella and Ace.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home (9926 Jones Rd, Houston, TX 77065). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, David and Blanca found strength and closeness in one another.
