He was predeceased by: his fathers, Ronnie Whaley and Frank Whaley. He is survived by: his children, Demitrice Moore (Whaley) of Houston, Texas. and Cornelius Whaley of Houston, Texas.; his grandson Oscar Berry Johnson IV; and his siblings, Cynthia, Roy (Juanita) and Johnny Ray (Zedra).
