He was predeceased by : his father Leonard Thompson Smith (Tommy). He is survived by : his mother Carol Smith; his wife Sharon; his son Andrew Smith; his stepdaughter Lauren Garcia (Marcus Garcia); his brother-in-law Charles Rice; his sister Ginger Strothers (Megan Leyja); his nephew Justin Strothers; and his sister-in-law Amanda Roberts (David Roberts).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. John's United Methodist Church.
