She was predeceased by: her parents, Luis Barcenes Sr. and Eliboria Flores; her husband Genaro Taylor Cortez Jr.; her sons, Raymundo B. Astran, Ruben B. Astran, Rene B. Astran and Robert B. Cortez Sr.; and her granddaughter Kristy Gale Astran.
She is survived by: her son Genaro B. Cortez IV (Laura Cortez); and her grandchildren, Robert Cortez Jr. (Monique Cortez), Joseph Rene Astran (Putri Astran), Micaela Cortez, Genaro M. Cortez V and Elena Cortez. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the South Houston Funeral Home (1506 Houston Blvd, South Houston, TX 77587). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Christopher Catholic Church (8150 Park Pl Blvd, Houston, TX 77017). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038).
