Jennifer Overton wrote a sympathy message

“I have worked at Rice for 47 years and knew "Dr. Bob" for most of those years--dating back to my years in the Chemistry Department, through his friendship with our Department Administrator, George W. Busby. I loved running into him on campus and attending his wonderfully entertaining and informative talks on politics and elections as well as watching his commentary on TV. I always wished I could have taken a class from him... He was a brilliant, dear man and he will be very much missed.”
