She was predeceased by: her husband Howard Deterding; her parents, Esther Yi Wharton and Herbert Lee Wharton; her brother Thomas Wharton; and her half-brothers, Edward Wharton and Gerald Wharton.

She is survived by: her daughters, Bonnie Smith, Kim Mulle and Lisa Deterding; her grandchildren, Owen Smith, Addison Lundin, Jonah Smith, Harper Lundin, Brylee Mulle, Ellie Miranda, Brooks Lundin, Nate Smith and Camryn Kerbey; and her brothers, Roger Wharton and Robert Wharton.
