He was predeceased by: his parents, Arch Leroy and Georgie Alberta Burton (Sapp); his grandson James "Jim" Duvall Cummins; and his brother Jack Burton. He is survived by: his wife Karen Burton of Howe, Texas; his daughters, Wendy Long (Lin) of Gunter, Carrie Jackson (Scott) of Allen and Stacy Hurst (Bob) of Athens, Texas; his grandsons, Matthew Hurst (Brae) of Athens, Kaleb Hurst (Bri) of Loveland and Chris Cummins of Portland, Oregon; his great grandchildren, Summit Hurst, Hood Hurst and Willa Hurst; his sister-in-law Janet Burton of Arizona; his nephews, John Burton (Kim) of Arizona and Jerry Burton (Laurie) of Watauga, Texas; his great-niece Jennifer Zimbro (Robert) of Howe; his nephew Geoff Owens (Audrey) of Frisco, Texas; Brittany Caruso (Nick) of Howe and Morgan Zimbro of McKinney, Texas. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Turrentine-Jackson & Morrow - McKinney / Allen / Plano (2525 N Central Expy, Allen, TX 75013). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel (2525 N Central Expy, Allen, TX 75013). A burial was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Old Mission Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (https://wish.org) in memory of Jim's grandson.
