Ella Pete Obituary
Ella Marie Foster (Pete) was born on August 20, 1955 to parents, Ella Victoria Barclay and Freddie Louis Foster in Houston, Texas. She was the first girl born to this family that would eventually have 11 children to the union. Ella grew up in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood on the city's northeast side. She flourished and went to public school in Houston ISD where she attended Isaacs Elementary, Fleming Middle, and was a proud graduate of Kashmere High School, class of 1974. She was a standout student−athlete and was very popular among her peers.
While at Kashmere, Ella met and eventually married Lonnie Pete. She chose to join the Catholic faith and became an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with three children, Damon Jerrod (Evelyn), Erika Marie (Germaine), and Candice Elizabeth before it dissolved some years later. She supported her family for nearly 30 years as a meter maid for the City of Houston before eventually retiring in 2009. Although insanely proud of her children, she was over the moon about her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Morgan, and Jordan.
Ella was also blessed with a whole host of countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Closest to her are nieces and cousins Peggy, Patsy, Jacqueline, Yavaka, Raven, Sam, and LaTonya.
Ella is preceded in death by both of her parents, Ella V. and Freddie Foster, two brothers Michael, Sr., Bobby, and her sister Allison. She is survived by her remaining siblings, Freddie Joe, Sr. (Sheila), Eddie, Robert, Wanda (Jerome), Janice (Cecil), Marvin, Sr. (LuNell), and Sheila May. In addition, left to grieve her passing are her three children, three grandchildren, and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
To know Ella was to love her. She never met a stranger and she welcomed everyone as a friend. She was a sneaky picture thief, loved to run the show, and always hated to leave the party. She could whip you in dominoes then bake you cake if you felt bad. She was altogether lovely.
She believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9th at 12:35pm.
