It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tillie Velma Hawthorne of Hurst, Texas, born in Austin, Texas, who passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Tillie has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Simpson and Lucy Simpson. She is survived by: her sister Lillie Farris; and her children, Gilda Blue, David Farris, Lyn Dimery and Matthew Marshall. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that all donations be given to Harris Creek Baptist Church (McGregor, Texas) in memory of Tillie Hawthorne.
