He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Moates and Bernice Moates; and his wife Dorothy Ann Nutt Moates. He is survived by : his close friend Barbara Wooten; his daughters, Tracie Rainey (Paul) and Twila Landreneau (David); his grandchildren, Ryan Rainey (Katie), Candice Lynes (Zach) and Courtney Landreneau; his great grandchildren, Cason Lynes, Cori Lynes, Cami Lynes, Harper Rainey, Sloan Rainey and Rylee Rainey; his siblings, Tommy Moates, Charles Earl Moates and Scheryl Self; and his nieces and nephews, Sharon Bessinger, Janet Danley, Dwayne Moates, Brian Moates and Cory Bridgeman.

Memorial Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Paralyzed Veterans of America and to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in honor of Wendyl.
