Herbert Neal Quillin Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on February 14, 2026, at the age of 81, Herbert Neal Quillin (Jacksonville, Texas) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid Herbert farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Herbert is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

Flowers are welcome, as are donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and to the United City Church Youth Ministry.

Patrick Al-Obaidi lit a candle

“A year ago January I weighed in at 379 lbs. now I’m hitting 265. I asked myself one question. What would Neal Quillin do with this fat body. Now I walk up and down a hill everyday with sand bags in my pack. I added a sand bag for you this week Neal. But you already know that. You spent your life showing young men how to be better men. We are richer for it. The first field we practiced on at Willowridge had sagebrush. I’m not joking. We knew anywhere we played, we had played on worse!”
