Matt touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for the moments shared and the memories created. Family, friends, and colleagues extend their love and support during this time. While Matt’s presence will be missed, the influence he had on others will remain. Those who knew him will carry forward memories that reflect his character and spirit.
He is survived by: his parents, Jay Townsend and Susie Townsend; his wife Emily Sauls; his children, Noah and Emma; his sister Brittany Townsend Orr; and his grandmother Dorothy Townsend. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, in laws, an aunt, uncles and many friends, coworkers.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Sherman (400 S Travis St, Sherman, TX 75090).
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be made to Texoma Christian School Athletic Department in honor of Matt.
