He was predeceased by: his wife Julia Katherine Sturrock Barnes of Colmesneil; his parents, Carr Barnes and Nettie Barnes; his siblings, Maggie Barnes Bryan (Alfred), Arthur "Pete" Barnes (Iva) and Mary Barnes Bigby (Chester); and his siblings-in-law, L. "Roller" Hopson and Bobbie Sturrock Hopson.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Lynn Barnes (Tina), Thomas Kendall Barnes (Traci) and Richard Keith Barnes (Kelli); his grandchildren, Jason Barnes (Mallory), Doris Rawls (Chris), Leslie Melancon (Kyle), Clint Tolar (Ginny), Jacob Barnes (Brittany), Sarah Holmes (Cullen), Krissy Barnes, Laken James (John), Bethany Miller (Jerrod), Julia Bailey (Matthew) and Richard Barnes (Lyric); and his great grandchildren, Ally, Kate, Cody, Cole, Madison, Cara, Caden, Austin, Aspen, Aiven, Carter, Faith, Lidge, Levin, London, Easton, Peyton, Bryton, Boston, Beau, Jessie, Jordan, Jathan, Dillon, Henry, Abel, Cash, Avery, Archie and Rylie.
