She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Whitfield and Esteen Fant Whitfield; her husband Bobby Joe Comer; and her daughter Teresa Simmons. She is survived by: her children, Randy and Tina (Brian); her brother Tony (Marsha); her grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew (Farrah) and Courtney (Jonathan); her great grandchildren, Trinity and Amilya; and her siblings-in-law, Earl Wayne and Betty Lou. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Over the years Jo Margaret and Bobby Joe also worked on many fundraising and charity events sponsored by Trees Baptist.
