He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudy Shaves and Jessica Shaves; and his son David. He is survived by: his wife Jacque Shaves; and his children, Brett Shaves (Michelle) of Scottsdale, AZ and Kimberly Shaves of Houston, TX. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, step-grandchildren, and dear friends.
He continued golfing until his Parkinson's progressed, which he handled with grace and relied on his faith in Christ.
