Cora Lee (Roberson) Moore Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Cora Lee Roberson Moore of Keller, Texas. Cora, 75, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Baylor University Medical Center - Dallas. She was April 9, 1946, in Sweetwater, Texas to the late Charles Henry and Agnes Lee (Bradford) Roberson. She was the oldest of three girls. Cora attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from Sweetwater High School before attending Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. Cora was married to Eric Rodney Moore and to their union two beautiful daughters were born. While in Providence, RI she attended the Church of God and Saints of Christ.
As a child and later after returning home to Sweetwater, she attended the Greater Zion Baptist Church where she was baptized and served in the choir and Sunday School. It was her love to teach children and help them grow into their full potential. While in Providence, Cora worked in the public school system and as the owner of a home daycare. Upon returning to Sweetwater, she worked as a Child Development Specialist at Child Care Management Services (CCMS) of Texas and later worked for Head Start in the same capacity. She was very active in the Heroines of Jericho.
Cora loved being around her family and attending the activities of her grandchildren as often as she could. She was also a sports enthusiast, frequently teaching her grandchildren to love all sports or watching sporting events with family. Nana, as she was affectionately called, will truly be missed.
Cora is survived by her daughters: Evonne Cummings of Hurst, TX and Nikki Moore Lacewell of Keller, TX; her two younger sisters, Lillie Ann (Joe) Johnson of Irving, TX, and Sylvia Jean Watts of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren: Malcolm (Pam) Cummings, Isaiah Triggs, Josiah Triggs, and Halo Lacewell; five great-grandchildren: Evalynn, Skylar, Dunta, Charles, and Chance and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at McCoy Chapel of Memories on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Repast will be held at Greater Zion Baptist Church of Sweetwater immediately following.
