We are sad to announce that on April 14, 2024, at the age of 84, Phileta Smith (Kemp, Texas), born in Newport, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Elmer Lee Nelson and Myrtle Phileta Harrell; her husband Hershell; and her siblings, Margie, Benny, Charles and Frank Leo.

She is survived by : her children, Ray (Brenda) of Kemp, Don (Diane), Sharon Sankovich, Laura Cook (David) of Kemp and Philip of Kemp; and her siblings, Austin Kemp, Susie, Beverly, Mike, Gary, Steven and John Scott. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grand children many nieces and nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Tolosa Baptist Church (19101 TX-274, Kemp, TX 75143).
