He was predeceased by: his parents, Polo Cantu and Petra Pena Cantu; his children, Freddy Cantu and Mary Jane Cantu Ibarra; and his brothers, Ernest Pena, Sr., Robert Cantu and David Cantu.
He is survived by: his wife Stella Garcia; his children, Bernice Reyes, Romelda Cantu and Peter Cantu; his grandchildren, Judy, Connie, Marcel, Charlene, Mary, Eddie, Cindy, Amy and David; and his siblings, Polo Cantu, Lupe Cantu, Richard Cantu, Renee Cantu, Conrado Cantu, Ruben Cantu, Arturo Cantu, Sylvia Cantu Garcia, Lydia Cantu Sauceda and Barbara Cantu Carpenter. He is also survived by many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel (420 W Live Oak St, Kenedy, TX 78119).
