Talmadge Cain wrote a sympathy message

“Marvin Brophy was my Platoon Sergeant in The Republic of Viet Nam. He was as fine an NCO as anyone could expect. Knowledgeable, brave and very well respected by all of his men and peers. Later I became acquainted with Marvin as a civilian and he became a cherished friend. Even living a distance away he checked in with me. I shall miss him so much Talmadge Cain”
