He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Bara Thomas Sr. and Geraldine Stolley Thomas (Geri); his sisters, Barbara and Joycelene; his stepfather Hugh Gross (Pete); his great grandchild Dalton; his in-laws, William (Bill) and Cecilia Taylor; and his brother-in-law Harvey Goerlitz.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his daughter JoAnn Milton (San Antonio); his grandchildren, Dallas Milton (Jen Colbenson) of San Antonio, Tara Goodney (Dylan Brasher) of San Antonio and Chase Milton of San Antonio; his great grandchildren, Brantley, Story, Paisley, Achilles and Daphne; his brother-in-law Bob Odum; and his nephew Richard Odum of Katy, Texas.. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great niece and a great-great nephew.
