He is survived by: his wife Elaine Bernard Thorp; his son Christopher Paul Thorp; his daughter-in-law Corinne Kara Thorp of Austin, Texas.; and his grandsons, Russell Thorp and William Thorp.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a cause that brings joy and hope to children in need.
