He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Sr. Cortez and Celia Cortez; his siblings, Arthur Sr., Rudy, Freddy, Jessie, Robert, Manuelito, Ramiro, Guadalupe Jr., Elida, Dalia, Lidia, Emma and Viola; his grandchildren, Angel Menjarez, Patricia Hernandez and Adriana Hernandez; and his great grandchild Marissa Celeste Rivera.
He is survived by: his wife Elvia Cortez; his children, Joe Cortez Sr. (Elvia), Leonides Cortez Jr., Pedro Flores (Gina), Jorge Flores (Arielle), Irma Moralez (Nune), Elida Hilario (Alfredo Sr.), Christina Ontiveros (Manuel Sr.) and Dalia Cortez; and his sister Carolina Cortez. He is also survived by his 33 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
