He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Talamantes and Blasa C. Talamantes; his sons, Abelardo Talamantes, Jr., David Talamantes and Thomas Talamantes; his stepson Jorge Ramirez; and his grandson Eric Ponce.
He is survived by: his wife Nora Talamantes; his children, Yolanda Ponce, Sylvia Felix (Bruno), Steven Talamantes (Jannelle) and Michael Talamantes; his daughters-in-law, Maria Dolores Talamantes and Juana Talamantes; and his sister Obdulia "Julie" Cavazos. He is also survived by numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
