“I remember Allen Lanier from back in the mid-1980s when he was Lieutenant Allen Lanier and a Watch Commander for the LPD. He had a commanding presence . . . but he also had a wonderful sense of humor and an engaging personality. I only had the chance to work with Lt. Lanier for about a year or so, but he quickly became one of the more memorable people I've had the chance to meet and work with. I just found out about his passing from one of his former colleagues, and I'm truly sorry. RIP Sir.”
