He was predeceased by: his parents, Julio Mares and Virginia Mares; and his wife Amelia G. Mares. He is survived by: his children, Luis E. Mares (Concepcion), Blanca A. Guillen (Domingo), Gerardo G. Mares (Sonia), Maria Isabel Rosas (Jose Luis) and Gabriela Mares. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
