He was predeceased by: his daughter Joyce Deborah Herrera-Mireles; his parents, Jesus Herrera Lozano and Maria Luisa Salinas; his sister Martha Cecilia Herrera-Sanmiguel; and his brother-in-law David Bogs.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Dunn Herrera; his children, Jesus Joaquin Herrera (Debra), Erika Lizette Herrera and Lilian Suzette Perez (Luis); his son-in-law Jose Antonio Mireles; his grandchildren, Brianna Lindsay Herrera, Kayla Christelle Herrera, Janelle Kate Herrera, Naima Ava Mireles, Jeshua Anthony Mireles, Jena Lynette Cadena, Megan Francheska Cadena, Roselie Joyce Herrera Dunn and Logan Alister Perez; his great grandchild Jaylianys Anahi Piñeiro; and his sisters, Sanjuana Bogs, Maria Estela Herrera and Carmen Herrera-Leon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
