He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Vara and Carlota Vara. He is survived by: his son Juan Antonio Vara Jr.; his sister Irma Sanchez; his wife Gloria F. Vara; his children, Eloisa Gomez (Fernando), Esmeralda Vara, Sandra Santillan (Juan), Gloria Vara, Griselda Vara, Jessica Vara and Julio Vara (Perla); and his siblings, Julio Vara (Lourdes), Francisco Vara (Marisela), Carlos Vara, Maria Louisa Sifuentes (Rodolfo), Gloria Borrego, Ramona Vara and Juanita Reyes (Javier). He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
