He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Ascension Cortés and Felicitas Martinez Cortés; his brother Mario Cortés; and his grandsons, Jorge Javier Estrada and Vicente Estrada.
He is survived by: his wife Dr. Guadalupe M. Cortés; his children, Mary J. Schalles (Kurtis, Jr.), Sara A. Gomez (Cesar) and Luis Cortés, Jr. (Edna); his grandchildren, Francisco Estrada (Erika), Venessa Estrada, Alonzo Martinez, Luis Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Raul Cortés (Alely), Denise Diaz (Roberto) and Emily Cortés; and his siblings, Romana Cortés, Carmen Sanchez, Maria, Refugio Cortés, Alicia Pedraza and Raul Cortés. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
