He was predeceased by: his wife Dora; his parents, Hershell H. Rosell, Sr. and Lucia Cruias Rosell; and his siblings, Hershell H. Rosell, Jr. and Rose May Patterson.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Jr. (Francis), Robert (Claudia), Rebecca Dromgoole (Mike) and Roselyne Vaughn; his sister-in-law Olga Guerra (Gus); and his grandchildren, Nancy, Stephen, Joyce, Mark, Robby, Carlos, Michael, Alexis Marie and Christina. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veterans Association of Laredo.
