He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Kirton and Netta Lee Kirton (Walker); his wife Peggy Kirton; his son Bruce Alexander Kirton; and his siblings, Lyall Kirton and Irma Alsup.
He is survived by: his children, John Mercer Kirton II of Dallas and Olivia D. Kirton-Duke (Frank) of Lindale; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Duke, Franklin Duke Jr. of Utah, Braylee Duke and George Alexander Walker Duke. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
