He was predeceased by : his parents, George Harris and Fannie Mae Harris; his siblings, Pearlene Curry, Gennetta B. Harris, Clara B. Horton, Robert Harris and Sam Harris; and his daughter Debra Bradley.

He is survived by : his former life partner Shirley Reed Harris; his wife Matilda Watts Harris; his children, Angela Harris Williams Robertson, Clint Earl Harris, David Gipson, Rita White Brown and Denise Dews; his sisters, Emma Hunt, Hattie Mae Henderson and Callie Jean Bell; and his close friend Nikita Else. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
