We announce the death of Edna Muriel Detro of Longview, Texas, born in Greencastle, Indiana, who passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 95. Edna will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Edna will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Edna will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Edna’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband Roy Detro; and her parents, Dee Scaggs and Minnie Lee Blankenbecker Scaggs. She is survived by: her children, Gary (Rhonda Detro), Mike (Linda Detro), Darrell (Vicki Detro) and Nancy; and her son-in-law Doug Britain of Longview. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a church or charity of your choice in memory of Myrt Detro.
