He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe H. Sharp, Sr. and Topsy Sharp; his son Joe H. Sharp, III; his sister Nancy Sharp Miller; and his brother-in-law Harold A. Neill.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Castloo Sharp; his daughter Lesley Sharp; his nephew John T. Edge (Felicia); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Tomas and Lucky; his sister Martha Sharp Neill; his sibling's children, Ellen, Hank (Tracy), Perry (Lindy), Matthew (Nancy) and Andrew (Kathy); and his friend Annette Hall. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
